Driving Goods Vehicles

The  Level 2 Certificate is for drivers who wish to show that they can operate a vehicle safely and work within legislation.  The qualification is designed with the needs of the goods vehicle industry in mind.

Drivers are assessed by observing their competence in pre-driving checks, checking the load, use of tachographs and also the monitoring of loading goods.

Drivers will be observed driving the cab and should help them to produce evidence for their portfolio by working with their employer.

This also encourages them to develop safe driving skills and outlines good practice in unloading goods vehicles, coupling and uncoupling vehicles, where applicable.

The programme consists of units made up to achieve a number of credits for a Level 2 Certificate which is assessed externally with a certificate upon successful completion.  There are three pathways to choose from depending upon the vehicle being driven.

Pathway 1

Pathway 3 Rigid vehicle driver - up to 7.5 tonnes – Cat C1 licence holder or over 7.5 tonnes
